We have created a website plan for 2013 to add new pages, resources so on and so forth. But on hearing to that, we thought maybe we need to just stop and look around what is happening in the digital marketing world. And it was shocking to see that the trends have changed to such an extent that people no longer spend more than 8 seconds on static websites, especially if they are using gadgets like tablet, smartphones, iPads, etc.

Here are few aspects from our research that make websites being relic of a bygone age…

Not optimized for smaller screens:

Do you know that more than 75 percent of US citizens are connected to internet using mobiles or tablets or laptops? And is your website optimized for smaller screen resolutions? It implies that you are missing out on the opportunity to appeal all the people visiting your website through mobile like devices. So, before you make any changes to your website, you need to make it optimized for smaller screens like we did.

No interactive or engaging content:

Are visitors coming to your website rebounding? Without you giving them a reason to change on the website, why would they? Now, no one has time to sit and read you 1000 words content on your home page. An infographic or interactive content conveying the same message would make visitors stay on your website for more time and also understand your brand better.

B2B doesn’t mean serious or emotionless:

Being a B2B company doesn’t mean you need to be boring and bland. Though you are catering to businesses, visitors reading your website are people. Cognize that be it businesses or consumers, you are writing for people. So write content as you write for people with emotions and expressions.

Not integrating social media networks:

The three most important social media networks, Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn which have been in the digital world for quite a while and have been marketers have been using these for business. You can integrate your website these channels so that you can engage people either on website or redirect them to your social media profiles to engage them with your social media activities. You’ll have more scope to interact with visitors over the social media than on the website. Build on your social media profiles to get the most of social media channels.

Try out the new:

Websites are cool but static web pages are lame. If you want your websites to have a good performance, cut all the crap on your website and focus on the insights mentioned above. Stay tuned to the trends and the happenings in the digital world.

Do give comment about the results once you make these changes to your website.
